South Cliff Italian Gardens Scarborough

The Italian Gardens on the south cliff at Scarborough were designed in the early 20th Century and they were one of the many achievements of Harry W Smith the noted landscape designer.

The sheltered Italian gardens overlooking the North Sea feature formal planting seating and a fish-pond overseen by the Roman God Mercury the winged messenger.

The gardens were often featured in the ITV drama series of The Royal, a spin off of Heartbeat.
